Exhibitions D-CHAB

Sometimes pictures and objects can tell us more than words. This is also true in chemistry. Inspired by different events and occasions, D-CHAB's public relations team designs new exhibitions. A visit is worthwhile!

Female scientists as role models: Feb. 22 – March 8, 22

Bücherausstellung Women in science

Anyone who wants to be successful in the natural sciences must be talented, persistent – and historically male, it sometimes seems. However, there are many female role models with research successes – both in the past and today. On the International Day of Women & Girls in Science, we want to bring attention to these with this article, an online quiz, and a book exhibition at the Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy Information Center (HCI building, G floor on the Hönggerberg) which runs until March 8. The project was realized in cooperation with the Information Center Chemistry | Biology | Pharmacy and Wall of Scientists.

Chemical and Pharmacognostic Collection

The historical Chemical and Pharmacognostic Collection in the HCI building highlights some of the many faces of chemistry. More than 1000 pieces take you into the exciting world of Prof. Carl Hartwich's stimulants and addictive substances from all over the world, an esoteric collection of books about herbs, colorful dyes such as tar dyes or indigo-dyed Levi's jeans, and even bizarre instruments used in chemistry laboratories. In addition, the life and work of Nobel Prize winners in chemistry spanning 150 years as well as a virtual 3D tour of an ETH Zurich chemistry laboratory from 1900 are all awaiting discovery.

Location: HCI building, H floor, Vladimir-Prelog-Weg 10, 8093 Zurich. Free entrance, opening hours: Mo-Fr, 8.00-18 Uhr (= opening hours HCI building).
