Swiss Federal Diploma for Pharmacists

The award of the Swiss Federal Diploma for Pharmacists is based on federal legislation, specifically on the following law and the corresponding ordinances:

Verordnung über die eidgenössischen Prüfungen der universitären Medizinalberufe (Prüfungsverordnung MedBG)
(Federal Ordinance on examinations in medical professions)

Verordnung über Diplome, Ausbildung, Weiterbildung und Berufsausübung in den universitären Medizinalberufen
(Federal Ordinance on diplomas, education, further training and professional activity in medical professions)

The requirements for the admission to the federal medical examinations are set by the Federal Law on Medical Professions (art. 12):

• Swiss Matura (or equivalent) or degree of a cantonal university, the ETH or a University of Applied Sciences (Fachhochschule) and
• completed study programme of Master level accredited on the basis of the federal law.

The Federal Examination for Pharmacists takes place at the end of the second year (September). Students must register for this examination with the Federal Office of Public Health. The forms are available at the Student administration office.
