Dr. Dmitry Katayev, postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Togni, was awarded an Ambizione grant by the SNSF for leading his own project at ETH Zurich entitled ″Development of Novel Iron-Catalyzed Oxidative Transformations of Inert C-H Bonds″. His research will focus on the design of simplified transition metal-based catalytic systems for the transformation of C-H bonds.

Dmitry Katayev completed his Master of Science in Organic Chemistry at the Higher Chemical College of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow) in 2008. He received his doctorate degree in the group of Prof. E. P. Kündig at the University of Geneva (Switzerland) in 2012. Awarded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) fellowship, he joined the research group of Prof. L. J. Gooßen at TU Kaiserslautern (Germany) as a postdoctoral researcher. In 2015, he joined the group of Prof. A. Togni at ETH Zürich (Switzerland) as a SNSF postdoctoral fellow. His research will focus on the design of simplified transition metal-based catalytic systems for the transformation of C-H bonds that could compete and/or overcome natural enzymatic processes.
