Since 2015, external pageChemical & Engineering News – a magazine of the external pageAmerican Chemical Society – celebrates 'external pageThe Talented Twelve': a profile of a dozen outstanding young researchers using chemistry to solve global problems. Dr. Bill Morandi, a former PhD student in the group of Prof. Carreira, was among the Talented Twelve winners of 2016. His research focuses, e.g., on hydrocyanation without the need for toxic hydrogen cyanide to functionalize organic molecules, or on catalysts based on inexpensive abundant materials.
