How to Find Us
The Laboratory of Physical Chemistry (LPC) is located in the so-called 2nd finger of the Chemistry Building (HCI), street address: Vladimir-Prelog-Weg 2 (formerly: Wolfgang-Pauli-Strasse 10), on the Hönggerberg Campus of ETH Zurich.
On the map below you find it marked in red, as well as the bus stops, and the red arrows on the left side of the map point to the underground parking P1. (There is no parking above ground.)
Arrival at the railway main station (Hauptbahnhof)
At the main station, take tram No. 11 in the direction of “Auzelg” to the stop called “Bucheggplatz” (takes about 25 min). Please change there to connecting Bus No. 69 to “ETH Hönggerberg”.
Arrival at the airport (Zurich Kloten)
After reclaiming baggage, follow the signs "Bahn/Railway" to ticket counters and machines. Press the left (red) key at the bottom where it says "Zurich City" (make sure that the display shows "2 Std"). The machine prompts for 5.40 CHF and accepts coins as well as 20.- CHF banknotes, and gives change. The ticket is valid during the next 2 hours for any train to Zurich as well as for the trams (streetcar, Strassenbahn) and buses in the city. If you plan to stay the whole day, a day ticket (valid 24 hours) for 10.80 CHF is more suitable. Take the train called “S 16” to the station called “Oerlikon” (about 5 min) and change to the connecting Bus No. 80 in the direction “Triemlispital”. Leave the bus at the stop “ETH Hönggerberg” (about 10 min).
How to reach us by car
Highway „Autobahn“ from Bern or Basel:
Drive on „NORDRING“ till the tunnel „Gubrist“ and then leave the highway at the exit „Affoltern-Regensdorf”.
Highway „Autobahn“ from St. Gallen or Schaffhausen:
Stay on the highway called “NORDRING“ in the direction of „Bern/Basel“, ignore all exits called „Zürich City“. Leave at exit „Affoltern-Regensdorf“.
At exit „Affoltern-Regensdorf“:
Follow the sign „Zürich Affoltern“, then drive straight on (the street is called Wehntalerstrasse). At the 2nd traffic light (it is on a plaza called „Zehntenhausplatz“), turn right following the sign „Höngg / ETH“ into Schauenbergstrasse.
Follow the street up the hill, then turn again right in the direction of ETH Hönggerberg. Always straight on till you reach the underground parking garage P1. Please leave your car there and follow the sign “Hauptausgang“ (=Main Exit). Upstairs you emerge in a garden, please follow the path (on your right you see the Building HPR and the cafeteria) till you reach the top of a broad flight of stairs, follow it downstairs and then take a sharp turn to the left. After some 20 m you are standing in front of the Building HCI, Vladimir-Prelog-Weg 2, where the Laboratory of Physical Chemistry is located.
In case you are using GPS, it is possible that the street address could still be: Wolfgang-Pauli-Strasse 10.
