- 2016 – 2018 | Postdoctoral researcher, Safety and Environmental Technology Group (Prof. Hungerbühler), ETH Zurich

- 2012 – 2016 | Doctoral studies, Safety and Environmental Technology Group (Prof. Hungerbühler), ETH Zurich, Title: Sources, Fate, and Mass Balance of Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and Short-Chain Chlorinated Paraffins (SCCPs)

- 2005 – 2011 | Studies in Biosystems Engineering, Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg

Research area

My research focuses on persistent organic pollutants (POPs) and their hazards and risks to the environment. For this I'm looking at different aspects of their environmental behaviours like their emissions, their distribution in the environment and their environmental concentrations. My previous projects focused mainly on polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and chlorinated paraffins, which replaced PCBs as additives in most of the applications after the mid-1980s. The focus of my current work is on brominated flame retardands and PFAS
