Togni, Antonio, Prof. Dr.
Antonio Togni has been Full Professor of Organometallic Chemistry at the Laboratory of Inorganic Chemistry of the ETH Zurich since April 1, 1999; he was previously Associate Professor in the same discipline.
Prof. Togni was born on January 14, 1956. He studied chemistry at the ETH Zurich where he earned his doctorate 1983 under Professor L. M. Venanzi with a dissertation on dinuclear hydrido complexes. He then transferred to the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, for a period of postdoctoral research under Professor J.E. Bercaw.
In 1985 he joined the staff of the Central Research Laboratories of Ciba Geigy, where he worked on asymmetric catalysis. He returned to the ETH in 1992 as an Assistant Professor. His research interests focus on asymmetric homogeneous catalysis (molecular aspects and applications) and on organometallic materials and their electrical and magnetic properties.
