Prof. Reiher is awarded to give the Per-Olov Löwdin Lecture in November 2018 at the Faculty of Science and Technology at University Uppsala.

The Löwdin lectures were created to honor Per-Olov Löwdin at his retirement as professor of Quantum Chemistry in 1981, and are the result of a world-wide initiative by his colleagues, coworkers, and former students. external pagePer-Olov Löwdin (1916 - 2000) was one of the international pioneers, of quantum chemistry, and especially his work on the theory of many-particle systems in the 1950's paved the way for much of the later developments in theoretical and computational chemistry and physics. For his scientific contributions, he received numerous international prizes and several honorary doctorates. The funds for the Löwdin lectures were donated to Uppsala University in connection with the Fourth International Congress of Quantum Chemistry, which was held in Uppsala in June 1982.

According to the statutes of the Löwdin lectures, one or more outstanding scientists in the field of quantum chemistry are invited to Uppsala with regular intervals to give lectures, both for a comparatively broad audience and for a more specialized one.
