Three out of eight Advanced Grants, the European Research Council (ERC) gave to ETH Zurich in the latest call for proposals go to the D-CHAB's professors Meier, Merkt, and Zenobi.

Prof. Thomas J. Schmidt will become the new head of the Energy and Environment Research Division (ENE) of the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in 2018. The PSI's energy research is concerned with processes that can be used in sustainable and safe technologies for the most carbon neutral energy supply possible.

Prof. Copéret receives the Wheland Award 2017/2018 from the Department of Chemistry of the University of Chicago. The award is given biannually to a scientist who has made outstanding contributions to chemistry.
Eschenmoser Lecture 2017: Prof. Richard. A. Lerner
Prof. Richard A. Lerner gave this year's Eschenmoser Lecture. In an excellent presentation titled "The Chemistry of Large Numbers" Prof. Lerner explained new antibody-based cancer treatment possibilities and the creation of a synthetic immune system.
Prof. Shih receives the Victor K. LaMer Award from the ACS
Prof. Chih-Jen Shih from the Institute for Chemical and Bioengineering (ICB) is awarded by the American Chemical Society for his research in colloid and surface chemistry.
