SCNAT Ethics Lecture Tours
Platform Chemistry of the SCNAT organizes lecture tours on ethics in chemistry. Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Kovac from the University of Tennessee will give a lecture on concepts of scientific ethics at ETH in November. The lecture will be hosted by Prof. Christophe Copéret.
Ambizione Fellowship for Dr. Dmitry Katayev
Dr. Dmitry Katayev, postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Togni, was awarded an Ambizione grant by the SNSF for leading his own project at ETH Zurich entitled ″Development of Novel Iron-Catalyzed Oxidative Transformations of Inert C-H Bonds″. His research will focus on the design of simplified transition metal-based catalytic systems for the transformation of C-H bonds.
Prof. Carreira wins Karl Ziegler Guest Professorship
This year's honorary prize of the MPI Mülheim went to Prof. Carreira: During the Karl Ziegler Guest Professorship 2016 from June 7 to 9, he gave several lectures at the Max Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung and was available for discussions with the local researchers and students.
Dr. Bill Morandi amongst C&EN's 'Talented Twelve' of 2016
Dr. Bill Morandi, a former PhD student in the group of Prof. Carreira, has been selected as one of the "Talented Twelve" of 2016 by the American Chemical Society's C&EN Magazine.
Ambizione Fellowship for Dr. Claire Stanley
Dr. Claire Stanley from the group of Prof. Andrew deMello, has been awarded a prestigious Ambizione Grant from the SNSF. Her fellowship, entitled "Microbiome-on-a-Chip: New frontiers in Plant-Microbiota Research", will be held at Agroscope in Zurich.
